Get Involved

Types of Volunteer Opportunities

There are many different volunteer paths at Communities In Schools of Northwest NC. If you can spare an hour a week, you can become a part of our Lunch Buddies program and eat lunch with a student in K-3rd grade once a week.  Have more time to give?  Mentor a child in our Friends of Youth program. You can find out more about these volunteer opportunities on our programs page. If you are an Alexander County resident, we offer the Reading Partner program in elementary schools and the Community of Friends program for those interested in mentoring.

Not all of our volunteers work directly with children. We also need volunteers to assist with fundraisers and general office work. If you have time to get involved, Communities In Schools in Alexander County has a place for you!
